Title: Transformation from Industry 4.0 to Industry 5.0

Abstract

Industry 4.0, an initiative from Germany, has become a global strategic initiative in many countries over the past decade. It is a technology-driven revolution to achieve higher efficiency and productivity in order to enhance the competitiveness in a global market. Recently, the European Commission announced Industry 5.0 which is value driven and focused on three core values: human-centricity, sustainability and resilience. The co-existence of two Industrial Revolutions creates many challenges for us. In this talk, I will briefly overview a history of the industry revolutions, including why the industry revolution was started and how it evolved. The difference between Industry 4.0 and Industry 5.0 is then explained briefly. Moreover, my talk will be focused on different kinds of intelligent robots and their deployment for the 5th Industry revolution. Some research and development of intelligent robots are demonstrated via video.
